KeathMilligan.net reviews a bill before the Texas Legislature that would subject metropolitan planning organizations (MPO's, such as CAMPO) to state conflicts of interest laws regarding public officials. But why are unelected officials allowed on MPO's, which often make big decisions about public spending? Maybe this topic will come up at the CAMPO meeting this Monday evening. Stay tuned.....
The Eyes of Texas are upon.....W?
Whodathot liberal UT-Austin would be in the running for the George W. Bush Presidential Library? I'm looking forward to blogging the apoplectic reactions of UT's academic aristocrats.

Austin Bloggers on Non-Austin topics....
Urban Grounds examines the continuing demise of the MSM with his post-mortem on CNN/Eason Jordan kerfuffle. I hope the local MSM is paying attention to what is happening to their big brothers in the national sphere.
On TexasTommy.org, my companion blog to Voice in the Wilderness, I've posted an examination of how the extra $.50/gallon of gas we are paying for gas versus three years ago could be a bellweather of the next generation's national security challenge.

The Austin Chronicle has a recently profiled the candidates for Austin City Council, the filing period for which started on February 7. Conservative Steve Adams actually gets a so-so review from the A-Chron, with a reasonably positive description as the "strongest opponent" to Place 1 favorite Lee Leffingwell.
GritsForBreakfast talks up Republicans in his latest post on criminal justice. It seems high ranking R's and Grits have established common ground on certain criminal justice issues, like prison building, probation courts, and treatment services. I am getting a vision of old adversaries, sitting around a campfire, joining hands, singing, and reveling in universal love....

Austin bloggers get busy
My Bloglines.com page lit up today with many new offerings from the Austin and Central Texas blogosphere:
- Grits for Breakfast gripes about stealth Big Brotherism.
- Hill Country Views proffers keen insight into the effect Condi Rice's jet setting adventures have already had: providing Iraq war naysayers a way to get with the program.
- Courtney at Russell and McCullough chronicles her reading list for the class "Narcissism and Hedonism in American Culture". I wonder if there will ever be a class on Narcissism and Hedonism in American Academe?
- TexasBug describes in poignant detail the significance of a hero bracelet that came in the mail today. (Well, maybe TexasBug is not technically in Central Texas, but this post is pretty darn good, so I'll christen her an honorary Austin blogger for a day)
Enjoy!
