Real Texas Men of Genius

Those "Real Men of Genius" ads by Budweiser always give me a chuckle. Now they have one specifically for male citizens of the Lone Star State. For you fella's out there who think you're way tougher than those other-49-state-wussy-boys, who have "Don't Mess with Texas" tattooed on your arm, a case of empty Shiner Bock bottles in the bed of your Ford F-150, and a "Texas: It's Bigger than France" bumper sticker, this Bud's for you (HT to Mattzilla at Lone Star Times):

Mr. Way Too Proud of Texas Guy.

More Border Disorder

I found this mildly disturbing story in the Austin American Statesman this morning:
Austin police got a call about 2 p.m. Monday that "some individuals were being held against their will" in the 10800 block of Newmont Road...

[Nina Pruneda, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] said the nationalities of the people held in the duplex at Windy Trail and Newmont Road for several hours were unknown, but she confirmed that they were not U.S. citizens.
There's still a lot of facts to be uncovered to this story, but, in any event, it does raise another dark issue in the illegal immigration debate: the specter of human trafficking. Lax border enforcement creates opportunities for trafficking of persons across the border, and sets up the persons being transported for victimization by criminals, as my have been happening in this case. What's compassionate about that?
